Job summary

Clyde & Co in Sydney is offering a casual paralegal opportunity for a motivated law student to join the Insurance practice led by Partner David Lee. You’ll assist with file care, research, drafting, and business development activities while gaining exposure to matters with international aspects through Clyde & Co’s global network.

Under supervision, you will perform a range of tasks from matter planning to drafting documents, with daily reporting and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Attend matter planning meetings and contribute to discussions.
• Prepare file notes, memorandums and summaries of discussions with clients and third parties.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of client files and drafts of documents.
• Draft, analyse and interpret a variety of legal documents and correspondence.
• Filing of court documents and any related administrative tasks.
• Assist in developing business development and marketing materials.
• Daily reporting and administration.

Job description

Our Sydney office currently has a Casual Paralegal opportunity for a highly motivated law student to join the Insurance practice led by Partner David Lee.

From assisting with the day-to-day operations of files and the practice, research, drafting, and project specific tasks, right through to business development initiatives, these roles are exciting and varied, giving you exposure to first rate matters and global clients.

You will have the opportunity to work on projects both in Australia and those that have international aspects, given our close working relationships with our global network of 70+ offices.

Types of responsibilities and exposure

Under the direct supervision of qualified lawyers and Partners, you can expect to perform a range of tasks which will include:

• Attending and contributing to matter planning meetings
• Preparing file notes, memorandums and summaries of internal discussions and meetings with clients, legal counsel or relevant third parties
• Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of client files
• Drafting, analysing and interpreting a variety of legal documents
• Drafting correspondence and emails to clients and other parties as directed
• Filing of court documents
• Undertaking research and preparing summary memorandums
• Assisting with the creation & maintenance of bundles/bibles/pleadings or arbitration files, client documents etc.
• Assist in developing business development and marketing materials
• Daily reporting and administration.

• Strong academic credentials with a record of academic achievement,
• Switched on, self-driven, with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong attention to detail, time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent ability to follow processes to ensure desired outcome is achieved.
• A passion or interest in building a career within a global law firm environment.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
