Job summary

NSW Health is seeking compassionate Assistants in Nursing for casual work at Blue Mountains Hospital, Katoomba. You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with daily living activities and observing patient conditions.

The role emphasises patient-centred care, effective communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment, with opportunities to develop skills and contribute to safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or currently enrolled in undergraduate Nursing/Midwifery.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate, respectful, person-centred care that respects dignity and privacy.
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work effectively within a healthcare team and follow directions from registered nurses or midwives.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Observe changes in a patient’s condition and report to nursing staff.
• Support mobility and non-clinical care activities and comfort.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience and safe care delivery.
