Job summary

Stride in Park Ridge, QLD, seeks a Casual Support Worker to provide client-focused assistance to people with mental illness in supported accommodation. You will help maintain independent living, promote recovery, and support daily living skills within a collaborative care model.

You will work a rotating 24/7 roster, including overnight shifts, and you’ll be supported by excellent training, supervision, and access to Stride Rewards and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Cert IV in mental health or related discipline (prefer diploma/Bachelor).
• Strong listening, empathy and communication skills.
• Experience with people experiencing mental illness.
• Calm, sensitive approach to distressed individuals.
• Understand duty of care, privacy and confidentiality.
• Help link participants to community resources and promote rights and recovery.
• Experience working with families, carers, and agencies.
• Willingness to comply with Disability Services Acts and WHS Act.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Available for overnight shifts and a rotating 24/7 roster.
• Eligible to apply or hold a Blue Card.
• Willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
• Hold a current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality support and services to people with a mental illness living in supported accommodation.
• Deliver client-focused, community-oriented, sensitive support.
• Assist clients to maintain relationships that enable independent living.
• Promote access and equity within a collaborative recovery model.
• Help clients improve daily living skills.
• Encourage personal hygiene and healthy living habits.
• Encourage participation in daily household tasks.
• Mentor clients in building productive relationships and conflict resolution.
