Job summary

YMCA NSW in Port Macquarie is seeking a casual Learn to Swim Instructor to deliver high-quality swimming lessons in a safe, supportive environment. You will help participants build aquatic skills and water confidence across ages and abilities.

As part of a friendly team, you will plan lessons, provide constructive feedback, maintain records, and uphold water safety standards. A flexible casual arrangement, ongoing training, and a welcoming community are offered to support your growth.

Qualifications

• Current recognised swimming teaching qualification (e.g., Austswim or Swim Australia).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured swimming lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of individual participants.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to students to support their progression.
• Maintain a safe and supervised aquatic environment at all times.
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and participants regarding lesson progress and goals.
• Adhere to all relevant aquatic safety standards, policies, and procedures.
• Contribute positively to the overall team culture and facility environment.
