Cummins and District Memorial Hospital on the Eyre Peninsula is seeking a casual Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare and serve bulk meals for patients, ensuring nutritional requirements are met and quality is maintained in a busy hospital setting.

The role offers a 7-day roster, with casual loading and a commitment to safe, hygienic food service practices in a public health environment. This position ends on 10 July 2027 and is ideal for a reliable, hands-on culinary professional.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking bulk meals in a hospital or institutional kitchen.
• Knowledge of dietary requirements, including therapeutic and modified texture diets used in acute or aged care.
• Understanding of SA Health food service HACCP and food safety legislation.
• Ability to work independently and manage workflows with minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational skills with stock ordering and inventory management.
• Current or eligible Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook bulk meals meeting nutritional and dietary requirements.
• Manage ordering of non-imprest food supplies to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
• Oversee plating, menu selections, and daily distribution of food service to appropriate standards.
• Maintain quality control and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
