Job summary

Tasmania Government, Home Care South, Department of Health (Tasmania), is seeking a casual Home Maintenance Officer to support Southern Tasmania clients by performing home maintenance and minor modification tasks in clients' homes. The role involves outdoor maintenance, basic safety tasks, and installation of alarms, with travel across Southern Tasmania.

Qualifications

• Experience carrying out general home maintenance and minor modification work.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, manual handling principles, and the safe use of equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, staff, and external stakeholders.
• A compassionate and respectful approach when working with older people, people with disability, and their carers.
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide home maintenance services such as spraying weeds, mowing and brush cutting, and basic external window cleaning.
• Perform minor modification tasks such as changing light globes and installing battery smoke alarms.
• Undertake equipment deliveries and collections, maintain records, and liaise with clients and community services to deliver high-quality support.
