Job summary

James Cook University in Cairns is offering a casual on-campus Library Assistant role at the Cairns Nguma-bada Campus. It requires current JCU student status in Cairns and provides approximately 4-6 hours per week with flexible hours to fit around your studies.

You will shelve books, conduct audits, assist with retrieval and repair of materials, support relocation and maintenance activities, and help keep the space welcoming.

Responsibilities

• Shelve books and journals accurately and maintain collection order.
• Conduct shelf checks and collection audits to support collection management projects.
• Retrieve, scan and assist with the repair of library materials.
• Support collection relocation and maintenance activities.
• Help maintain a clean, organised and welcoming library environment.
• Identify and report maintenance issues and space constraints.
• Provide basic directional assistance and referrals to library users when required.
