The position is based in Accor's flagship Canberra hotel, Novotel Canberra, conveniently based in the city centre opposite the light rail. We are a 286-room hotel with 8 conferencing and event facilities hosting all events from Corporate groups to sports teams.

Duties:
Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes across various kitchen sections
Follow recipes and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
Support senior chefs with daily kitchen operations and prep task
Monitor stock levels and assist with receiving and storing deliveries
Work collaboratively with the kitchen and wider hotel team to ensure smooth service
Contribute ideas for menu development and daily specials
Adapt to different sections of the kitchen as needed
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
Sound knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work calmly under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
A team player with good communication skills
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Passion for food and a genuine desire to grow in a professional kitchen
