Job summary

The Village Café & Bar in Mordialloc is seeking a friendly Cook to join our culinary team on a casual basis. You will prepare and present quality meals, maintain food safety, and help deliver a welcoming dining experience for our community.

Responsibilities include cooking to a consistent standard, managing portions, keeping the kitchen clean, monitoring stock, and supporting front‑of‑house during service. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cook in cafés/restaurants.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices
• HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
• RSA certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure attractive food presentation and portion control.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality.
• Support café operations, opening and closing duties, and team collaboration.
• Assist with customer enquiries and special dietary requests professionally.
