Job summary

VACCA - Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency in Werribee, VIC is recruiting a Nugel Case Support worker to work with Nugel Case Managers under the Team Leader, performing a range of case work and administrative tasks, including referrals, calls and researching supports as part of the Nugel program.

The role ensures culturally appropriate court-ordered contact is maintained between children and their families, with transport or supervision of contact as required.

Qualifications

• Proven respect for Aboriginal cultures and continuous learning.
• Knowledge of child development and trauma; support for behavioural challenges in a culturally safe way.
• Maintains confidentiality and communicates effectively with children, families.
• Experience in the child, youth and family sectors is valued.
• Mandatory: Police Check, WWC check, Victorian Driver Licence; COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended.

About The Role

The role of the Nugel Case Support worker is to work cooperatively with Nugel Case Managers and under the direction of the Nugel Team Leader, to undertake a variety of case work and administration tasks, such as assisting with referrals, making phone calls, researching supports etc as part of the Nugel program.

The case support role will ensure that culturally appropriate court ordered contact is maintained between children and their families. The Case Support worker will provide transport for children and/or supervision of the contact as required.

About You

• Proven respect for Aboriginal cultures and societies, commitment to continuous learning, and high awareness of issues impacting Aboriginal communities.


• Possesses sound knowledge of child development and trauma, with the ability to engage and support children with behavioural challenges in a culturally safe manner


• Maintains confidentiality, communicates effectively with children, young people, and families, and demonstrates strong written and conceptual abilities.


• Experience working in the child, youth, and family sectors will be highly valued, desirable


• Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
