Job summary

The Benevolent Society is seeking a Child & Family Practitioner to deliver home-based, strengths-based support for families facing complex challenges. You will conduct regular visits, assess needs, and develop family-led plans while coordinating practical supports and services.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, child-centred practice and collaboration with other providers to keep children safe and thriving.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related human services field (Diploma or higher).
• Experience delivering intensive casework with vulnerable children and families, ideally within family preservation, child protection or community-based support programs.
• Sound understanding of trauma-informed practice, child safety and risk assessment, with the ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide home based intervention, including regular family visits and direct engagement.
• Assess family strengths, needs and risks, and develop clear family-led support plans.
• Deliver practical and evidence-informed interventions, including parenting support, advocacy and service coordination.
• Maintain accurate documentation and work collaboratively with families, colleagues and partner services.
