Job summary

Golden West Apprenticeships Limited is offering five full-time Carpentry Apprenticeships across the Dalby region. School leavers and mature-age applicants are welcome, with on-the-job training arranged through host employers.

You'll be employed by GWAL as you study and work, gaining hands-on experience in framing, fit-out, and finishing, while earning an income and completing formal training toward a carpentry trade.

Qualifications

• Interest in carpentry and building; willingness to learn.
• Ability to work outdoors and physically as required.
• No prior experience required for school leavers; keen to learn.
• Read plans and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Learn all aspects of carpentry from setting out to finishing.
• Read plans and work safely with hand and power tools.
• Complete formal training to become a qualified carpenter.

Golden West Apprenticeships is a community-based organisation that has been connecting people with apprenticeships across the Darling Downs, South and Central West Queensland for over 30 years. In that time we’ve helped more than 7,500 job seekers into employment and seen over 3,500 apprentices complete their trade.

Why start your apprenticeship with us?

As a Group Training Organisation, we employ you and place you with one of our trusted local host employers. That means you’re never on your own. You’ll have your own dedicated Training and Employment Coordinator from day one. They’re your go-to person for advice, check-ins, help with your training, and making sure your apprenticeship stays on track right through to completion.

Five roles, plenty of variety

Every host employer is different, so there’s a role to suit where you want to take your career:

Large construction projects: be part of bigger builds and learn on site with an experienced team

Renovations: develop your skills in framing, fit-out and finishing on homes and buildings

Local work: home every night, working in and around Dalby

Remote work: some roles include Monday to Friday drive-in, drive-out work, often in a company vehicle, with accommodation and meal allowances provided while you’re away

Out-of-town role: one position is based a little out of town, and accommodation can be provided

Some roles also offer the chance to earn extra through overtime.

What you’ll do

Learn all aspects of carpentry, from setting out and framing to fit-out and finishing

Read plans and work safely with hand and power tools

Work alongside experienced tradespeople and complete your formal training to become a qualified carpenter

What we’re looking for

A genuine interest in carpentry and building

A positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn

Comfort with physical, outdoor work

A White Card (ideal, but we’re happy to talk if you don’t have one yet)

A driver’s licence is preferred but not essential for all roles

School leavers and mature-age applicants are encouraged to apply. No previous experience needed; we’re looking for people who are keen to learn.
