Hume City Council is seeking a detail-oriented Building Maintenance Carpenter to join the Assets team in Coolaroo, Australia. You will maintain, repair and improve building structures and components, carrying out carpentry tasks to high standards and supporting safety across facilities.

Join our team to manage planned and reactive maintenance, supervise minor contractor works, and prepare quotations while keeping accurate records and adhering to safety and council policies.

Qualifications

• Carpentry and joinery skills.
• Experience with cabinetmaking.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.
• Ability to work in a team or alone.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Local Government procedures, policies and safety codes.
• Completion of a recognised 4-year full time carpentry apprenticeship.
• Current Driver’s Licence.
• Experience supervising maintenance work.
• Experience with preventive maintenance planning.
• Familiarity with maintenance software.
• Experience with building management systems.

Responsabilités

• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance at Council facilities.
• Prioritise and complete requests daily to ensure safety.
• Supervise contractors for minor works per procedures.
• Prepare and issue quotation documentation.
• Perform routine inspections of building structures and components.
• Execute carpentry repairs and installations.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and materials.
• Diagnose carpentry-related problems methodically.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained.
• Follow safety protocols and building codes.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and contractors.
• Perform preventive maintenance to extend component lifespans.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Maintain organized work areas and waste disposal.
• Supervise minor works by external contractors.
• Adhere to WHS Act and council policies.
