VACCA seeks an equal opportunity advocate to support Aboriginal children and families in transition to community care. You will work with carers and service providers to strengthen cultural connections and access to culturally safe supports.

You will build relationships across communities, provide guidance on trauma-informed approaches, and help connect families to local services and opportunities while maintaining child safety and wellbeing.

• Salary : $92,286 - $99,294 based on level of experience, plus super

About the role

Join VACCA in supporting the transition of Aboriginal children and families to Aboriginal Community Controlled care. Working closely with carers, community service organisations and families, you will help strengthen cultural connections for Aboriginal children and young people by promoting access to culture, community and culturally safe supports. You will build the cultural awareness of carers, foster stronger links to local Aboriginal services and community, and help create positive, connected outcomes for children and families.

About You

You are passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, young people and families to stay strong in culture, community and identity. You build trusted relationships with carers, families, community services and Aboriginal organisations, helping create culturally safe and nurturing environments for children in care. With a strong understanding of trauma informed practice, you provide guidance, cultural support and practical assistance to carers while strengthening connections to community, services and cultural opportunities. You are organised, collaborative and committed to delivering positive outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people.

• Desirable:
• Qualifications in Community Services and/or Social Work with industry experience is preferred
• Requirements:
• Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
• Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
