Job summary

MacKillop Family Services seeks a Coordinator, Western Australia to lead the Carer Recruitment and Development Program with a trauma-informed approach. You will oversee carer assessment, authorisation, annual reviews, support and development, screening, training, probity and compliance checks.

You will mentor the WA/NT team, develop robust recruitment and retention strategies, manage staff recruitment/induction, promote the Sanctuary model and deliver reports for continuous program improvement.

  • Experience in carer recruitment, assessment, training and development.
  • Experience in marketing, publicity or public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Carer Recruitment and Development Program in WA.
  • Conduct carer assessment, authorisation, annual reviews, screening and probity checks.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching and supervision to the Support Worker.
  • Develop marketing/attraction strategies to recruit carers and manage recruitment/induction of staff.
  • Champion the Sanctuary model across programs and ensure eight commitments are followed.
  • Produce reports to support continuous improvement of recruitment and retention services.

About the role

The Coordinator, Western Australia will provide leadership support to the Carer Recruitment and Development Program delivering high quality services within a trauma informed framework. The main responsibilities include carer assessment, carer authorisation, annual reviews, carer support and development, carer screening, training, probity and compliance checks.

The Carer Recruitment and Development Coordinator Western Australia will, support and develop the Carer Recruitment and Development Support Worker through the provision of on-the-job training, coaching and supervision, and develop their capacity to provide high quality carer recruitment and retention services, lead Carer Recruitment and Development in Western Australian to recruit, assess, support, and develop foster carers in accordance with the MacKillop Policy and Procedures, develop and implement a robust carer development and retention strategy to ensure carers ongoing support and development needs are maintained, in consultation with WA/NT Manager, National carer and Recruitment Teams and National Leader Foster Carer Development, develop and implement marketing and attraction strategies to attract carer applicants, manage the recruitment, selection, and induction of the WA Carer Recruitment and Development staff, actively support and champion the Sanctuary model across all aspects of the programs, and manage the programs in line with the eight Sanctuary commitments; Open Communication, Nonviolence, Emotional Intelligence, Social Learning, Democracy, Social Responsibility, Growth and Change and Cultural Humility, ensure that all information is up-to-date, accurate and complete on the pipeline, Family Journey and Carer Register, develop reports that supports the continuous improvement of MacKillop’s carer recruitment and retention services.

This is a Full-Time opportunity based in West Perth, WA within our Carer Recruitment and Development Program. The position reports to the Manager WA/NT Services.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, the incumbent will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • A tertiary qualification in social work, community services, public relations, marketing or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in carer recruitment, assessment, training, development and support; and/or experience in marketing, publicity or public relations.
