Job summary

CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program is seeking a Student Engagement Advisor to deliver a culturally safe experience for students across their university journey. You will coach Indigenous students through internships and studies, guiding them from recruitment to completion and advocating for their academic, professional and personal outcomes.

Working within a national team, you will design and deliver pre-employment training, build strong relationships with university and community

Qualifications

• Degree qualified with 2+ years experience in Student Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Careers Advising, Stakeholder Management, Education or similar.
• Must have current Working With Children Check or willing to obtain one prior to commencement.
• Experience building relationships within Indigenous communities and corporate Australia is desirable.
• Ability to work within a geographically dispersed national team.

Responsibilities

• Coach and support Indigenous students through internships and their studies.
• Own the student lifecycle from recruitment to internship completion with advocacy and guidance.
• Deliver core training and events focusing on pre-employment, professional and leadership skills.
• Grow the CareerTrackers community by engaging with new students and securing internships.

CareerTrackers is a nationally recognised non-profit established in 2009, dedicated to providing transformative pathways and robust support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students. Our mission is to empower these students to excel academically, professionally, and personally.

We facilitate structured, multi-year internship programs that connect high-potential students with leading employers across Australia. Through comprehensive coaching, tailored training, and culturally safe support year-round, we prepare students for success at university, in their professional pursuits, and as leaders within their communities.

The purpose of this role is to be the primary point of contact for students, delivering a high-quality, culturally safe experience across their journey with CareerTrackers.
Through strong coaching, recruitment activity, and partnership engagement, the Student Advisor supports students to progress successfully through university, secure internship opportunities, and move toward meaningful employment outcomes. The role is also accountable for accurate data management and delivery of program milestones.

As a Student Engagement Advisor you will:

• Coach and support Indigenous students through their internships and their studies
• This role owns the student lifecycle from recruitment through to internship completion, providing consistent coaching, guidance, and advocacy to ensure strong academic, professional, and personal outcomes
• Deliver core training and events to students focusing on pre-employment, professional and leadership skills, preparing them for internships and life after graduation
• Help to grow the CareerTrackers community by meeting and engaging with new students, working together to secure an internship that aligns with their career aspirations
• Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with our university and community partners
• Be part of a team who are passionate about supporting and empowering the next generation of Indigenous leaders

• You've forged strong relationships with your students and key stakeholders nationally
• You and your team consistently understand and follow National Program delivery standards and practices, meeting KPIs with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement
• You are consistently upholding the standard of excellence and keeping students at the core of everything you do

Who is this job for?

The successful applicant will be degree qualified with demonstrated 2+ years experience in Student Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Careers Advising, Stakeholder Management, Education or similar.
