Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville is seeking a patient-focused Cardiology Administration Officer to support a busy department across inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic services. Based at City Campus, you will handle bookings, reception, Medicare billing and patient flow in collaboration with nursing and medical teams.

  • Previous hospital or medical administration experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare environments.
  • Sound keyboard skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.

  • Adaptability and professionalism delivering high-quality patient experience.
  • Understanding of a Cardiology diagnostic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day Cardiology clinic operations, including bookings, scheduling, cancellations, enquiries and waiting lists.
  • Provide professional and compassionate patient and carer support, including check-in, Medicare billing and reception.
  • Liaise with nursing, medical and hospital teams to coordinate schedules, cancellations and patient flow.
  • Check referrals, documentation and other requirements are complete and current before clinic appointments.
  • Maintain accurate patient records through effective filing, scanning and document management.
  • Use hospital systems including IPM and EPIC, keeping up to date with training, system changes and enhancements.

About the Role

Join the Royal Melbourne Hospital's Cardiology Administration Team and play an important role in supporting one of Victoria's leading Cardiology Services. Based at our City Campus in Parkville, you'll provide high-quality administrative support across a busy and collaborative department that delivers comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic cardiac services.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to the smooth delivery of care for patients with a broad range of cardiac conditions, including heart disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. You'll be part of a service recognised for excellence in clinical care, education and research, with opportunities to support a team at the forefront of innovative cardiac treatment and patient care.

Key Accountabilities

About You

You are a customer-focused administrator with experience in a hospital or medical environment, strong communication and computer skills, as well as:

  • Previous hospital or medical administration experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare environments.
  • Sound keyboard skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adaptability, professionalism and a commitment to delivering a high-quality patient experience.
