Job summary

SA Health in Adelaide is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer/Physiologist to join the Non-Invasive Cardiac Investigations team. You will perform routine and advanced echocardiography, stress tests, and report findings across SALHN sites including Noarlunga Health Precinct and Flinders Medical Centre.

You will collaborate with the cardiology team, maintain high-quality diagnostic standards, and participate in an on-call roster.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a relevant Science/Applied Science or Health-related field or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Ultrasound or Cardiac Electrophysiology.
• Accreditation as a Medical Sonographer with ASAR.
• Current experience and up-to-date knowledge of adult Echocardiography in tertiary care.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine diagnostic tests in echocardiography, intervention, ambulatory monitoring and pacemaker assessment.
• Handle complex tasks related to implantable defibrillators, stress echocardiography, 3D and strain analysis, and staff training.
• Demonstrate advanced expertise to perform standard or complex tasks in adult echocardiography.
• Provide professional services to clients with increasingly complex needs.
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call roster and deliver timely written reports.

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager of Non-Invasive Cardiac Investigations, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality cardiac diagnostic services across all SALHN sites including Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Health Service, ensuring accurate and timely assessments for our patients. Your expertise will be invaluable in interpreting and reporting on a wide range of cardiac investigations, including echocardiograms, exercise stress echocardiograms, and more.

Duties for the role will include:

• Responsible for independently performing routine diagnostic tests in the disciplines of Echocardiography, intervention, ambulatory monitoring and pacemaker assessment.
• Performance of more complex tasks relating to implantable defibrillators, stress echocardiography, 3D and strain analysis, and training staff.
• Demonstrate increased professional expertise, competence and experience to perform any standard or complex professional task within the discipline of adult echocardiography
• Provide professional services to client groups in circumstances requiring increasingly complex practice skills
• Participation in the out of hours on call roster
• Provide comprehensive and timely written reports for all studies undertaken

About you:

• A Bachelor degree in a relevant Science/Applied Science or Health related field, or equivalent
• Post graduate qualification in Cardiac Ultrasound or Cardiac Electrophysiology
• Accreditation as a Medical Sonographer with the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
• Current experience and up to date knowledge of adult Echocardiography as provided in a tertiary care hospital
