Job summary

Alcoa is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to join the Portland Smelter team in Australia. You will manage capital projects across planning, execution and closure, ensuring safety and alignment with business objectives.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and rigorous governance. The ideal candidate will bring brownfield project experience in heavy industry, strong budgeting and forecasting skills, and a proven ability to lead teams to successful

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and relevant discipline.
• Experience managing brownfield projects in heavy industry.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate projects end-to-end.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement across levels.
• Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ability to lead teams to successful project completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate assigned capital projects from planning through closure.
• Develop FEL and project contracting strategies for delivery.
• Facilitate Asset Owner led teams for operable solutions.
• Engage stakeholders to ensure input and ownership in delivery.
• Ensure compliance with project delivery procedures and continuous improvement.
• Manage budgets, pricing, procurement, and contractor strategies.
• Monitor progress with accurate forecasting and timely updates.
• Maintain audit compliance with project processes.
