Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an exceptional opportunity within a high-profile Federal Government agency supporting Australia's most significant long-term capability program.

This is a unique chance for an experienced Capabilities & Insights Analyst (APS6) to deliver data-driven insights, inform senior decision-making, and contribute to a nationally significant defence initiative that will shape Australia’s security and capabilities for decades to come.

About the Role Reporting within the Australian Submarine Agency environment, the Capabilities & Insights Analyst (APS6) will exercise a considerable degree of independence, performing a subject matter expert role and providing high-quality, evidence-based advice to leadership and Government.

You will support strategic decision-making by analysing economic, industry, workforce, supply chain and capability data to identify trends, assess risks, evaluate options and deliver clear, actionable insights. This role is ideal for an agile and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems and translating technical information for senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse complex economic, industry, workforce, supply chain and capability data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Translate datasets, modelling and source information into clear insights and recommendations for decision-makers
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, analytical reports and policy advice for senior leadership and Government
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and governance relevant to the capability analysis function
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within required timeframes
  • Engage with stakeholders across government, Defence, industry and international partners to support evidence-based outcomes
  • Apply initiative and sound judgement to support sensitive or complex projects with strategic, political or operational impacts
  • Ensure work is conducted in alignment with security requirements and relevant obligations
About You
  • Strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to provide complex, evidence-based advice
  • Proven ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear and practical insights for senior audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing concise and high-quality documentation
  • Demonstrated capability in quantitative analysis, economic frameworks, statistical methods and/or data-driven approaches (highly regarded)
  • Qualifications in economics, econometrics, statistics, data analytics, public policy, mathematics or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive relationships across diverse groups
  • The ability to work effectively under competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance
