Job summary

OneSchool Global Maitland Campus NSW is seeking a full-time Campus Student Support Assistant to join the Maitland campus for Term 1 2027.

You will provide dedicated one-to-one support for a student with complex learning, communication barriers and behavioural needs, including Autism, working with the Learning Support Teacher to implement structured strategies for academic and social development.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or equivalent) required.
• Experience supporting students with complex needs including autism.
• Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a student with complex learning, communication barriers and behavioural needs, including Autism.
• Collaborate with the Learning Support Teacher and campus team to implement structured strategies supporting academic, social and emotional development.
• Assist the student to engage in classroom activities and routines, aiding participation in learning and transitions.
• Implement individualised learning and behaviour support strategies (visual supports, routines, communication tools).
• Provide personal care support where required, ensuring dignity, safety and wellbeing.
• Support communication systems including AAC, visual schedules and other strategies for expressive/receptive language.
• Reinforce self-regulation strategies and programs such as Zones of Regulation.
• Maintain clear communication with staff to ensure consistency of the student’s support plan.

We are seeking a Campus Student Support Assistant to join our Maitland campus in Term 1 2027 on a full time, permanent basis.

As a Campus Student Support Assistant, you will:

Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a student with complex learning, communication barriers and behavioural needs, including Autism.

Work closely with the Learning Support Teacher and campus team to implement structured strategies that support the student’s academic, social and emotional development.

Assist the student to engage in classroom activities and school routines, supporting participation in learning, transitions and daily tasks.

Implement individualised learning and behaviour support strategies designed for students with complex needs, including visual supports, structured routines and communication tools.

Provide personal care support where required, ensuring the student’s dignity, safety and wellbeing at all times.

Support the use of communication systems, including AAC, visual schedules and other strategies to assist expressive and receptive language.

Reinforce self-regulation strategies, including programs such as Zones of Regulation and other evidence-based supports.

Maintain clear communication with the Learning Support Teacher and campus staff, ensuring consistency in the student’s support plan.

Contribute to a calm, predictable and supportive learning environment for the student.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Education Support (or equivalent) and have demonstrated experience supporting students with complex needs across a range of disabilities, including Autism, communication barriers and additional learning needs, ideally within a specialised or inclusive educational setting.

You will be confident providing one-to-one support, working closely with the Learning Support Teacher and campus team to implement structured and consistent strategies that support engagement, communication, self-regulation and participation in learning, while maintaining dignity, respect and confidentiality at all times.

A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required for this role.
