Job summary

Deakin Residential Services in Geelong is seeking a Campus Life Coordinator to lead the Residential Leadership Program and foster a vibrant student community across Geelong Waurn Ponds and Geelong Waterfront Campus. You will design events, recruit and develop student leaders, and promote connection, belonging and wellbeing.

The role requires an on‑campus presence with regular evening shifts and some out‑of‑hours work.

Qualifications

• A degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or extensive experience in a managerial/technical field.
• Proven experience delivering programs, events or services that drive engagement and outcomes, ideally in student accommodation or higher education.
• Ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with young adults from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, coaching and developing teams to deliver outcomes.
• Adaptability, sound judgment and ability to balance priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Genuine passion for student wellbeing and community building.

• Full time and fixed-term until December 2027
• $110,171 - $121,309 (HEW 7) + 17% Superannuation

Ready to lead, inspire and create experiences that matter? Join Deakin Residential Services as a Campus Life Coordinator and play a key role in shaping residential life for students. You'll lead and develop the Residential Leadership Program, empowering student leaders to foster connection, belonging and a vibrant community culture. You'll also design and deliver impactful events, programs and campaigns that enrich the student experience and support wellbeing.

We're looking for an energetic and empathetic leader who thrives in a student-focused environment and is passionate about building communities where students can live, learn and succeed. As this role is centred on supporting students where they live, a strong on-campus presence is essential. Flexibility is key, with regular evening shifts (typically 11am to 7pm) and occasional out-of-hours and weekend work required to deliver programs and support students when they need it most. As a Campus Life Coordinator, you will:

• Design and deliver engaging events, programs and campaigns that foster connection, belonging and an exceptional residential student experience.
• Lead the recruitment, training and development of Residential Leaders, empowering students to make a positive impact within their community.
• Support student wellbeing and uphold community standards, helping to create a safe, inclusive and respectful living environment.
• Lead and develop Campus Life Officers and Residential Leaders, providing guidance, coaching and support to achieve shared goals.
• Build strong relationships with students, university stakeholders and community partners to enhance engagement and strengthen the residential experience.

To be successful, you’ll have:

• A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
• Proven experience developing and delivering programs, events or services that drive engagement and achieve meaningful outcomes, ideally within student accommodation, higher education or a similar environment.
• The ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with young adults from diverse backgrounds, providing support and guidance in complex situations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and empower teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Strong adaptability, sound judgement and the ability to balance competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• A genuine passion for student wellbeing, community building and creating exceptional residential experiences.
