Job summary

Reddam House Sydney is seeking a General Hand to maintain grounds, buildings and equipment, ensuring a safe, clean and inviting campus for staff and students. The role runs 7am-3pm, full time, with duties spanning grounds upkeep, basic AV setup, and event support.

Candidates with maintenance or facilities experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work independently or in a team will thrive. Traffic Control qualification or willingness to obtain is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, handyman, groundskeeping or facilities role.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
• Experience operating gardening equipment, machinery, tools and maintenance equipment.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Confident communicator with staff, students, contractors and visitors.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team.
• Proactive and solutions-focused with attention to detail.
• Adaptable and flexible with a wide range of tasks.
• Traffic Control qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Physically fit for manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attractive, safe and well-presented school grounds, gardens, car parks, pathways and outdoor facilities.
• Carry out mowing, weeding, pruning, planting and general landscaping to a high standard.
• Prepare and maintain sporting fields, including mowing and line marking for school activities.
• Perform routine grounds maintenance, including edging and weed control.
• Ensure grounds maintenance equipment and machinery are operated safely.
• Set up and support school events, assemblies, presentations and examinations, including basic AV requirements.
• Conduct daily inspections to identify maintenance and safety issues across campus.
• Maintain, repair and relocate furniture, equipment and fittings as needed.
• Coordinate deliveries and movement of equipment while supporting day-to-day operations.
• Support building safety checks and work with staff and contractors to maintain a safe environment.
