About the Role

Associate Campaigners work at the frontline of implementing Market Forces’ advocacy campaigns under guidance from their manager. They provide essential operational support to deliver campaigns that protect the environment by stopping proposed fossil fuel projects and engage and influence key stakeholders. This position has a focus on institutional investors in Australia, including superannuation funds.

About You

You are a passionate early career campaigner or activist with some experience and are looking to build a career as a change maker. You thrive in a busy environment, working with others who share your passion, energy and commitment for driving change. You understand what drives corporations, institutions and investors to adopt policies that help or hinder action on climate change and you have a keen interest in influencing their future financing and investment positions. You excel at stakeholder engagement, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and compellingly. You are highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, and enjoy working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. You’re a proactive problem-solver and a team player with a strong sense of initiative, bringing enthusiasm and resilience to your campaigning work.

Selection Criteria

• 1–2 years’ experience, including voluntary or internship experience, in activism, advocacy or campaigning, engaging targeted stakeholders or broader communities
• Knowledge of climate change, and/or finance, or a willingness to develop knowledge of the specific campaign area
• Deep commitment to Market Forces’ mission and values, with a passion for solving the climate crisis
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, take initiative, contribute to shared outcomes and respond positively to feedback.
• Proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds with respect, empathy and a justice focus
• Experience contributing to projects and turning ideas into feasible action plans (with guidance from a manager or working group lead)
• Ability to engage effectively with external peers, supporters and stakeholders, and develop strong working relationships
