Job summary

Oakvale Wildlife Park, a family-run, 100% Australian-owned wildlife park on 25 acres in Salt Ash, Port Stephens, invites applications for a Café Team Leader. You’ll run the heart of the visitor experience, where guests refuel between koala encounters and Splash Bay.

You’ll lead a friendly team, set the tone for outstanding service, and help make every visitor’s day memorable. Join us in one of Port Stephens’ most unique workplaces, where animal welfare and guest wow moments come first.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality leadership or supervisory experience.
• Passion for guest service and building a positive team culture.
• Confident handling a fast-paced service environment, especially during peak visitation.
• Flexibility to work part-time hours including weekends and school holidays.
• Current NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead, roster and mentor the café team day-to-day, setting the standard for friendly, efficient service.
• Oversee food quality, presentation and food safety compliance.
• Manage stock, ordering and wastage to keep the café running smoothly.
• Be a visible, positive presence for guests, solving problems and creating great experiences on the spot.
• Work closely with park management to support busy periods, school holidays and events.

For over 40 years we've cared for native and exotic animals, from koalas and kangaroos to red pandas. Animal welfare and conservation sit at the heart of everything we do. You'll lead a friendly, close-knit team, set the tone for outstanding service, and help make every visitor's day just a little more memorable, all in one of the most unique workplaces in Port Stephens.

What you’ll do:
