Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services is seeking a Cadet Engineer to join the Recycle Water Plant in Fairfield (2165). This is a two-year, part-time opportunity, working three days per week onsite to gain practical experience while building an engineering career.

You will work with experienced engineers and operations teams, contributing to projects across water treatment and compliance tasks, developing industry skills and applying study learnings in real-world settings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
• Interest in building a career in the water industry.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist on-site operations through regular site inspections and sampling.
• Prepare regulatory and contractual reports.
• Maintain MOC documentation and project records.
• Support process investigations, troubleshooting and optimisation.
• Review P&IDs to reflect current conditions.

Working alongside experienced engineers and operational teams, you will gain practical, hands‑on experience across Recycle Water treatment plants. You will contribute to a diverse range of projects while developing valuable industry skills.

What you'll Do

• Support on‑site operations through regular site inspections and performed routine water sampling and laboratory analysis.
• Assist in preparing regulatory and contractual reports
• Prepare and maintain management of change (MOC) documentation, reports and other project records
• Track compliance and sustainability performance
• Support process investigations, troubleshooting and optimisation
• Assist with improvement projects
• Review and update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to reflect current operational conditions.
