Job summary

Geosyntec Mining in Perth, Australia, seeks a CAD Technician (Civil Engineering Draftsperson) to support our mining and civil projects. The role focuses on producing and refining technical drawings and associated documentation for reports, specifications, proposals, and marketing materials.

You will draft, edit, and finalize drawings, operate CAD software, and ensure drawings meet drafting standards. A relevant CAD drafting qualification and AutoCAD proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional setting or equivalent experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems is preferred.
• Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD. Knowledge of AutoCAD includes but is not limited to Annotation Styles, Multileaders, MTEXT, Dimensions, Sheet Sets, Paper Space / Model Space, XREFs, Layers, Dynamic Blocks, and Tool Palettes. Passing of an Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional examination within the last 3 years is encouraged. A working knowledge of the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Basic understanding of the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, & finalize technical drawings.
• Operate a CAD computer using appropriate hardware and software to develop final drawings.
• Transfer information from an engineering drawing to a final CAD drawing using appropriate symbols and drafting standards.
• Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine best approach to complete drawings.
• Copy detailed plans and drawings and perform non-routine complex drafting assignments.
• Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices.
• Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar.
• Be involved with the CAD Action Group by supporting, networking, and collaborating to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.
• Perform other technical services, as required.

We have an opportunity available for a CAD Technician (Civil Engineering Draftsperson) to join our Perth team. We seek motivated professionals to support our strong and growing project pipeline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) of engineering design documents to be included in reports, specifications, proposals, presentations and marketing materials. The essential job duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Education and Licensure

• Completion of an Associate’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in CAD Drafting or graduation from an accredited high school
