Job summary

TJX Australia seeks an experienced Buyer for a fast-paced retail environment focused on fashion and home goods. You will negotiate with vendors, source new brands, and drive sales through strategic purchasing and market insights.

You will analyze trend data, forecast opportunities, and collaborate with management to build compelling assortments. Travel is required and a multi-unit experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years at Buyer level in a fast-paced retail environment in fashion or home categories.
• Experience as a Buyer in a large, multi-unit retail environment.
• Proven history of driving sales results.
• Strong analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills.
• Proven negotiating skills with substantiated examples.
• Go-getter with a can-do attitude and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Creative and willing to take measured risks.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with team members.

• Autonomy and Decision Making: Our Buyers have a high level of autonomy, with the ability to negotiate and make on-the-spot decisions while in the marketplace.

• Strategic Forecasting: Analyze history and current business to strategically forecast future opportunities.

• Market Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of market conditions regarding price, resources, and fashion trends, and react accordingly to impact sales.
• Negotiation: Negotiate and make decisions to buy while in the marketplace.
• Travel: Travel as required.

Who We’re Looking For: You

• Experience: Minimum of four years at the Buyer level in a fast-paced retail environment, specifically in fashion-oriented apparel or home categories.
• Retail Background: Prior experience as a Buyer in a large, multi-unit retail environment.
• Sales Results: Proven history of successfully driving sales results.
• Skills: Strong analytical, financial, strategic, and planning skills.
• Negotiation: Proven record of strong negotiating skills, with examples to substantiate.
• Attitude: Go-getter with a "can-do attitude" and a true excitement for the business.
• Mindset: Creative, entrepreneurial-minded, with a strong comfort level with taking measurable risks.
• Team Player: Strong team playing, clear communication, and relationship-building skills are very important to be successful in our business.
