Job summary

Cumberland City Council is seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer - City Services to provide confidential administrative support to Executive Managers and the Director City Services. The role is based at Auburn Depot with frequent travel to council worksites.

The successful candidate will have admin experience, strong communication, and proficient MS Office skills, plus knowledge of Technology One and ability to juggle priorities in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in an administrative support position
  • Experience providing support to senior staff including confidential admin support
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office and knowledge of record management systems (Technology One)

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential administrative support to Executive Managers and Director City Services
  • Coordinate diaries, meetings and travel arrangements across multiple sites
  • Prepare and manage documentation, reports and correspondence

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Business Support Officer supports the City Services Directorate by providing a full range of timely, confidential, administrative and executive support to Executive Managers, Managers, and Executive Assistant to Director City Services.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in an administrative support position
  • Experience in providing support and assistance to senior level staff including the provision of confidential administrative support
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and knowledge of record management systems (Technology One)
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, identify priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to handle challenges and utilise problem solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly in a team environment
  • Strong organisational and judgement skills, with the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities

About this role:

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Auburn Depot, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,696.50 to $1,950.97 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
