Job summary

Cumberland City Council is hiring a Business Support Officer for City Services. This permanent full-time role is based at the Auburn Depot with travel across worksites and a 70-hour fortnight prior to leave loading.

The position sits within the City Services Directorate and provides confidential admin support to Executive Managers and the Director. The role requires strong communication, organisation, and multi-tasking abilities, with knowledge of Technology One and MS Office.

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in an administrative support position.
  • Experience providing support to senior staff including confidential administrative support.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential administrative support to Executive Managers, Managers and the Director City Services.
  • Assist Executive Assistants and support across City Services with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Utilise Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and record management systems (Technology One).
  • Coordinate projects and travel across Council worksites as required.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Business Support Officer supports the City Services Directorate by providing a full range of timely, confidential, administrative and executive support to Executive Managers, Managers, and Executive Assistant to Director City Services.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in an administrative support position
  • Experience in providing support and assistance to senior level staff including the provision of confidential administrative support
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and knowledge of record management systems (Technology One)
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, identify priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to handle challenges and utilise problem solving skillsAbility and willingness to work flexibly in a team environment
  • Strong organisational and judgement skills, with the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities

About this role:

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Auburn Depot, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,696.50 to $1,950.97 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
