Expression of Interest – Business Support Officer

Location: Various Local Councils across Melbourne

Employment Type: Temporary contract opportunities

Hour: Full-time and Part-time

Rate: Competitive hourly rates + super

Public Sector People are inviting expressions of interest from experienced and motivated Business Support Officers who are looking to work within local government across a range of departments. We partner with all councils across Melbourne who regularly seek skilled administration professionals to support teams in high-functioning, community-focused environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and customer service support to a variety of departments (e.g. planning, infrastructure, community services)
  • Manage shared inboxes, respond to enquiries, and escalate as required
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and correspondence with attention to detail
  • Maintain records and update databases with a high level of accuracy
  • Coordinate meetings, agendas, and minute taking as required
  • Support with project coordination and ad-hoc tasks to assist wider teams

About You:

  • Previous experience working within a local council or government environment is essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal systems (such as TechOne, Authority, Pathway or similar)
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work independently
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to a team
