Job summary

Kinokuniya Bookstores of Australia seeks a part-time Business Sales Supervisor for our Town Hall store in Sydney. The role involves about 35 hours per week and collaboration with the Department Manager to drive BSD targets and oversee daily operations.

The successful candidate will support recruitment, client account handling, events, quotations, stock transfers and end-to-end order processing, with at least 2 years in business sales and strong MS Excel skills.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in business sales.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the Department Manager, overview the sales situation and set strategies for meeting sales targets.
• Work closely with the Department Manager in regards to all aspects of the Business Sales Department (BSD).
• Act on behalf of the Department Manager as the second person in charge of the department and take on escalated matters.
• Partake in the recruitment and performance management of staff.
• Coordinate workflow and ensure departmental coherence across BSD.
• Organise BSD events and coordinate with internal and external parties as required.
• Acquire new accounts by contacting potential account holders.
• Create and maintain a periodic newsletter for all customers to update them about special events and sales.
• Attend external events related to the function of BSD as directed by department manager.
• Provide superior customer service to Business Sales customers across all mediums.
• End to End product selection for customers, including quotations, booklists, stock removal, packing and shipping of orders.
• Use specialised databases and software to perform all duties.
• Communicate across departments to ensure inter-departmental cohesion.
• Liaise with floor staff as required.
• Transfer stock between stores and the Business Sales Department.

Our flagship store is located in the heart of Sydney CBD and we pride ourselves on being the largest bookstore in Australia with expansive space and specialised departments spanning from Comics to Art and Design.

We are currently looking for a part time Business Sales Supervisor to join our direct sales department at our Town Hall store. The successful candidate will be required to work approximately 35 hours a week (5 days).

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• In collaboration with the Department Manager, overview the sales situation and set strategies for meeting sales targets.
• Work closely with the Department Manager in regards to all aspects of the Business Sales Department (BSD).
• Act on behalf of the Department Manager as the second person in charge of the department and take on escalated matters.
• In collaboration with the Department Manager, partake in the recruitment and performance management of staff.
• Ensure departmental coherence and assist the Department Manager to coordinate the workflow.
• Organise BSD events and coordinate with internal and external parties as required.
• Acquire new accounts by contacting potential account holders.
• Create and maintain a periodic newsletter for all customers to update them about special events and sales.
• Ensure payment of all accounts.
• Attend external events related to the function of BSD as directed by department manager.
• Provide superior customer service to Business Sales customers across all mediums.
• End to End product selection for customers, including but not limited to; quotations, booklists, stock removal, packing and shipping of orders.
• Use specialised databases and software to perform all duties.
• Act on behalf of BSD in communication across departments, ensuring inter-departmental cohesion.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you possess at least 2 years’ experience of business sales, a high level of attention to detail, and an intermediate level of MSExcel. The ability to recognise Japanese and/or Chinese characters is advantageous but not mandatory.
