Job summary

Australian Unity Limited is seeking a proactive Business Risk Analyst to join our Wealth & Capital Markets team. You will embed risk and compliance frameworks, deliver management reporting, and partner with leaders to strengthen risk culture.

You will monitor regulatory developments, assess controls, and support audits and regulatory actions while contributing to a strong governance framework across the business.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in risk, compliance, governance, audit or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years' post-graduate experience in risk, compliance, controls assurance or a comparable role.
  • Knowledge of risk management, compliance and regulatory frameworks within financial services or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience conducting risk analysis, control assessments, compliance monitoring or assurance reviews.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to identify material trends, emerging risks and areas requiring management attention.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Help embed and maintain risk and compliance frameworks across Wealth & Capital Markets, providing practical guidance and constructively challenging the business to support effective decision-making.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc management reporting, analyse risk and compliance information to identify trends and emerging issues, and support targeted reviews and deep dives.
  • Support the identification and documentation of key controls and critical processes, assess control design and effectiveness, perform control testing and help address identified control gaps.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ASIC updates, support compliance monitoring and assurance activities, and help the business respond to changing regulatory obligations and industry requirements.
  • Maintain relevant risk and compliance registers and support the quality and accuracy of information recorded within the Governance, Risk and Compliance system.
  • Develop and deliver targeted training, guidance and communications, helping leaders and employees understand and take ownership of their risks, controls, incidents and actions.
  • Provide risk and compliance input into projects, business changes and product development, including the review of relevant customer and investor communications.
  • Support the management and escalation of incidents, issues and control weaknesses, and help coordinate audit, assurance and regulatory actions through to closure.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Risk, you'll play an important role in supporting the effective management of compliance and non-financial risk across the business. What you'll do:

You're a collaborative and commercially minded risk professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders to help them manage risk and make informed decisions.
You bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Comfortable working in a complex environment, you're able to manage changing priorities and tight deadlines while building trusted relationships across the business.

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in risk, compliance, governance, audit or a related discipline
  • A minimum of three years' post-graduate experience in risk, compliance, controls assurance or a comparable role
  • Knowledge of risk management, compliance and regulatory frameworks within financial services or a similarly regulated environment
  • Experience conducting risk analysis, control assessments, compliance monitoring or assurance reviews
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to identify material trends, emerging risks and areas requiring management attention
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem‑solving skills
  • The confidence to provide practical advice and constructively challenge stakeholders
  • The ability to manage tight deadlines, ambiguity and changing priorities within a complex environment
  • Experience within wealth management, investment management, superannuation or broader financial services will be highly regarded
