Job summary

ICC Sydney is seeking a commercially focused Business Development Manager for The Cutaway in Sydney. The role drives sales strategy, identifies new opportunities, and grows a portfolio of strategic accounts while coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery and exceptional client experiences.

You will pro-actively pursue new business, manage end-to-end sales cycles and nurture relationships with event organisers, agencies and corporate clients to maximise venue

Qualifications

• Experience in business development or sales in events/venues preferred.
• Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Proactive sales approach with ability to manage a sales pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a sales strategy for The Cutaway to build a pipeline of events and long-term accounts.
• Identify, convert and manage new business opportunities through end-to-end sales processes including proposals and contracting.
• Build relationships with event organisers, agencies, corporates and associations to drive revenue and utilization.
• Represent The Cutaway at industry events and determine targeted market opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth handover from sale to event delivery and an excellent client experience.

To support the ongoing development of The Cutaway, a position is now available as Business Development Manager, The Cutaway. This role will be stationed at the Cutaway and be responsible for and drive sales and account management activities for venue. The role will have dual reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Government and Events, and the Venue Manager. This role is a 12-month temporary contract with the potential to go permanent.

Join us in driving the development and growth of The Cutaway, one of Sydney's most unique event destinations. As a commercially focused Business Development Manager, you will support the development of the sales strategy, identify and convert new and existing business opportunities, build strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders, and grow a portfolio of strategic accounts. Applying a proactive sales approach, account management, networking and market engagement, you will generate new opportunities and explore existing accounts to maximise venue utilisation and revenue. You will handle both commercial and non-commercial events as you help to position The Cutaway as a venue of choice for a diverse range of events.

Within this role, you will:

• Support the development and implementation of a sales strategy for the Cutaway, building a pipeline of both anchor and one-off events, solidifying new and existing long-term accounts for the Cutaway venue.
• Proactively identify, develop and convert new business opportunities through the end-to-end sales process, including prospecting, client presentations, venue inspections, proposal development, negotiations and contracting, to achieve revenue and utilisation targets for The Cutaway.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with event organisers, agencies, associations, corporate clients and key industry stakeholders, managing a portfolio of strategic accounts to drive client retention, revenue growth and repeat business.
• Identify new market opportunities and implement targeted business development and sales strategies.
• Represent The Cutaway at industry events, trade shows and networking functions to generate new business and strengthen market presence.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from sale to event delivery and an exceptional client experience.
• Actively own and maintain Business Development documentation and processes related to the venue, ensuring it is up to date and available.
• Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, proposals and account plans, maintaining accurate CRM records and market intelligence.
• Achieve or exceed sales, conversion and revenue targets through a proactive and commercially focused approach.
• Demonstrate strong communication, relationship management, negotiation and organisational skills.
