Job summary

ACT Parks and Conservation Service, Fire Management Unit, is seeking a role to plan, coordinate and deliver bushfire mitigation and preparedness programs across the ACT. You will assist with prescribed burns, fuel hazard assessments, field data collection, and fire management projects.

You will provide technical and GIS support, assist with fuel moisture monitoring and weather station maintenance, and contribute to fire preparedness and emergency response activities.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a current driver’s licence.
• Willing to undertake bushfire related activities, including bushfire suppression.
• Able to wear a uniform and work a roster including weekends/public holidays.
• Meet the Moderate level of the National Firefighting Task Based Assessment (Fire Fitness).
• Visa holders may be considered for permanent or temporary roles depending on visa eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver bushfire mitigation and preparedness programs across the ACT.
• Assist with planning and delivery of prescribed burns and preparatory works.
• Support the Bushfire Operations Plan and undertake fuel hazard assessments.
• Collect field data and contribute to fire management projects.
• Provide technical and GIS support using spatial systems and field applications.
• Assist with fuel moisture monitoring and weather station maintenance.
• Contribute to fire preparedness and emergency response activities.
