Job summary

TBE Environmental is seeking a Bushfire Consultant to join our Maitland team. The role offers flexible office-based, hybrid and remote work arrangements across NSW, ACT and Queensland, with opportunities to develop technical expertise while strengthening client relationships.

You will collaborate with ecology, arboriculture and archaeology specialists on diverse projects, contributing to proposals and growing our bushfire service in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Protection or equivalent in progress.
• Knowledge of NSW bushfire planning policy, AS3959 and local guidance.
• Ability to assess bushfire risks, vegetation and slopes and interpret relevant legislation and planning requirements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, organisation and time-management skills.
• Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary consulting team.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with clients and authorities.

Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering bushfire projects to a high technical standard.
• Preparing Bushfire Protection Assessments, Bushfire Emergency Management and Evacuation Plans, Bushfire Management Plans and Strategic Bushfire Studies.
• Supporting subdivisions, structure plans, special fire purpose developments, tourism, infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
• Working with clients, authorities and project stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
• Building and strengthening client relationships.
• Identifying new project and business opportunities.
• Contributing to proposals, fee submissions and the growth of our bushfire service.
• Building your professional network and industry reputation.
• Sharing knowledge and mentoring less experienced team members.
• Contributing to a positive, accountable and high-performance team culture.

Highly regarded

• Previous bushfire or environmentalconsulting experience.
• BPAD accreditation or progress towards accreditation.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Building or a related discipline.
• Existing client and industry relationships.
