Job summary

Syndication Sanctuary No 4 Pty Ltd in Stroud NSW is seeking a bush regenerator to join small teams and focus on weed control across private reserves near National Parks. The role includes seed collection, fauna monitoring with remote cameras and drones, and vegetation/erosion management.

You will work at Stroud NSW and Putty NSW with a team that values outdoor work and conservation. Applicants should have a Cert III or higher in Ecology or related fields, weed-control experience, good plant/weed

Qualifications

• Undertaking or completed a Cert III or above in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in weed control and knowledge of various weed control techniques.
• Excellent plant & weed ID skills.
• Enjoy walking around in bushland and wild places.
• Positive can-do attitude with natural curiosity and a willingness to learn.
• A current Driver’s license.
• Moderate to very good level of physical fitness.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking weed control at each property using a wide variety of techniques.
• Native seed collection.
• Fauna monitoring with remote cameras, thermal, spotlighting, acoustics, etc.
• Vegetation management (selective trimming and brush-cutting).
• Erosion control, creek crossing and track maintenance.

Syndication Sanctuaries owns and operates large-scale private conservation reserves in the Sydney-Hunter region. We are a leading organisation operating in the NSW Biodiversity Offset Scheme with the conservation work at our beautiful bushland properties carefully managed in collaboration with the NSW government. The conservation work is varied and can be a lot of fun including monitoring our endangered species including koalas. At 2500-5000 acres and bordering National Parks, these private reserves offer endless pristine wilderness to explore. Your Role

The bush regenerator role works in pairs and small teams and is primarily responsible for weed control at each property using a wide variety of techniques for effective bushland recovery. The role also participates in:

• Native seed collection
• Fauna monitoring with remote cameras, thermal, spotlighting, acoustics etc.
• Vegetation management (selective trimming and brush-cutting)
• Erosion control, creek crossing and track maintenance

The two primary locations for this role are Stroud NSW and Putty NSW.

1. Undertaking or completed a Cert III or above in a relevant discipline. This may include Ecology, Conservation and Land Management, Landscaping, Horticulture, Parks & Gardens etc.
2. Experience in weed control and knowledge of various weed control techniques
3. Excellent plant & weed ID skills
4. Enjoy walking around in bushland and wild places
5. Positive can-do attitude with natural curiosity and a willingness to learn
6. A current Driver’s license
7. Moderate to very good level of physical fitness*

Highly Valued Skills

• Experience operating 4WD vehicles off-road
• Chainsaw operation
• Experience using basic handheld power tools
• Tech savvy with mobile apps and navigation tools, cameras and/or drones

Salary & Benefits

• Casual rates starting at $30 per hour up to $45 per hour for experienced staff. Plus superannuation and travel allowances.
• Gain additional accredited industry qualifications (WHS white card, chemical application, first aid and CPR, wildlife handling etc.)

• Flexible scheduling - we collaborate with the team to work with individual availability to plan our site visits each month throughout the year.
