Responsibilities

  • Provide strong customer service and a proactive and solution orientated approach to all matters to achieve high-quality outcomes.
  • Assist the Municipal Building Surveyor and Building Coordinator to perform the statutory duties of the role.
  • Perform appropriate inspections throughout the municipality to check conformity of properties and investigate compliance with the Building Act and other relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • Undertake inspections associated with the issuing of Place of Public Entertainment (POPE’s).
  • Oversee building enforcement including preparing briefs of evidence, liaison with legal representatives and attendance to court and hearing as required.

Remuneration: $109,120.48 to $122,246.87 per annum, plus superannuation & leave loading

About the Role

Council is seeking a qualified Building Inspector to provide strong technical guidance, undertake onsite inspections and support the Municipal Building Surveyor to ensure compliance with regulatory responsibilities.

The Building Inspector responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strong customer service and a proactive and solution orientated approach to all matters to achieve high-quality outcomes.
  • Assist the Municipal Building Surveyor and Building Coordinator to perform the statutory duties of the role.
  • Perform appropriate inspections throughout the municipality in order to check conformity of properties and investigate compliance with the Building Act and other relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • Undertake inspections associated with the issuing of Place of Public Entertainment (POPE’s).

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification to hold registration in the category of Building Inspector.
  • Currently registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) in the category of Building Inspector.
  • Substantial experience in the public or private building sector or related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience.
  • Employee Victorian Working with Children Check.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check.
