About us

Staysafe Industry Training is an established Registered Training Organisation delivering nationally recognised qualifications across the building, construction and trade industries.

We specialise in flexible, online and self-paced training and assessment, providing industry professionals with accessible pathways to gain formal qualifications and advance their careers.

Our training model is designed to accommodate experienced tradespeople and construction professionals, with a strong focus on practical industry experience, competency-based assessment and quality learner outcomes.

About the role

We are seeking experienced and suitably qualified Building & Construction Trainers and Assessors to join our team on a flexible contract basis.

The position is primarily remote, allowing you to work from home while assessing students through our established online Learning Management System (LMS).

We are recruiting trainers and assessors with the skills and experience to assess students across one or more of the following qualifications:

  • CPC40820 – Certificate IV in Swimming Pool and Spa Building
  • CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction
  • CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)

You do not need to be qualified across all three qualifications to apply. We welcome applicants who specialise in one or more of these areas.

This opportunity would suit an experienced RTO trainer and assessor, qualified builder, construction professional or swimming pool industry specialist with the appropriate training and assessment credentials.

Key responsibilities
  • Assess student competency through knowledge assessments, practical evidence and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) submissions.
  • Review submitted evidence against unit requirements, assessment criteria and the applicable rules of evidence.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students throughout their training and assessment.
  • Review practical workplace evidence, including photographs, videos, project documentation and third-party reports.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records and documentation within our LMS.
  • Ensure assessment decisions are supported by sufficient, valid, authentic and current evidence.
  • Work collaboratively with our compliance and administration teams.
  • Participate in assessment validation, professional development and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist with reviewing and improving training and assessment resources where required.
What we’re looking for
  • Relevant vocational qualifications and demonstrated industry experience in building construction, swimming pool construction or related disciplines.
  • Current training and assessment credentials that meet applicable RTO requirements.
  • Demonstrated vocational competency and current industry skills relevant to the units you will assess.
  • Previous experience delivering and assessing nationally recognised training within an RTO environment.
  • Strong understanding of competency-based assessment, assessment principles and the rules of evidence.
  • Ability to review practical workplace evidence and make sound, well-documented assessment decisions.
  • Strong written communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence working independently with online learning management systems.
Highly regarded
  • Experience delivering or assessing CPC40820, CPC40120 or CPC50220.
  • Current or previous building, site supervisor or swimming pool building licences.
  • Experience assessing RPL applications and workplace-based practical evidence.
  • Experience working with online and self-paced training programmes.
  • Familiarity with the Australian VET regulatory framework and RTO compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing or developing assessment tools and resources.
What we offer
  • Work remotely – flexible work-from-home arrangements.
  • Flexible contract opportunities – workload and availability can be discussed.
  • Established training resources – work within our existing LMS and assessment systems.
  • Ongoing assessment opportunities – access to students across our building and construction qualifications.
  • Supportive team – work alongside our compliance and administration staff.
  • Long-term opportunities – potential for ongoing engagement as our training programmes expand.
