Hedley Scott Recruitment in North Sydney NSW is seeking an experienced Business Services & Tax Manager to lead one of the firm’s teams and manage a client portfolio focused on SME clients across accounting, tax and business advisory.

You will partner with the directors to deliver both compliance and strategic advisory work, including corporate restructures and complex tax matters, while fostering a collaborative, flexible culture with hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• This role suits an experienced Business Services Manager who enjoys both technical tax work and leading teams.
• You may come from a mid-tier, Big Four, or strong boutique firm with strong technical capability and practical management experience.
• Key requirements include CA or CPA qualification, strong experience in business services and tax, and the ability to lead a team and manage client portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of the firm’s teams and manage a client portfolio of approximately $1.5M in compliance fees.
• Provide leadership to a team of accountants and support clients with both compliance and advisory work.
• Deliver tax advisory on matters such as corporate restructures, tax consolidation, transaction-related tax issues, and other tax matters.
• Review tax compliance work completed by the team.
• Manage workflow, work in progress, and debtors.
• Lead and mentor a team of 5 staff including a supervisor.
• Ensure strong client outcomes and team productivity.
• Support partners on client strategy and advisory work.

A well-established North Sydney accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Business Services & Tax Manager to join their growing team.

The firm works closely with small to medium-sized businesses across a range of industries, providing services across accounting, tax, and business advisory. Their approach goes beyond compliance, partnering with business owners to support growth, strategic decision-making, and complex transactions.

With a diverse SME client base including manufacturing and other traditional sectors, the firm continues to grow through referrals, acquisitions, and new client wins. As a result, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Services & Tax Manager to lead one of their teams and strengthen the firm’s internal tax capability.

The Opportunity

This role will see you lead one of the firm’s teams while managing a client portfolio of approximately $1.5M in compliance fees.

You will work closely with the partners while providing leadership to a team of accountants and supporting clients with both compliance and advisory work.

About You

• Experience using Xero and Xero Practice Manager (or similar systems)


• A proactive and collaborative leadership style
