Job summary

Programmed is seeking an Entry-Level Trade Assistant in Toowoomba, QLD. You will support our painting team on residential, commercial, and education projects, helping with surface preparation, protection, materials handling, and assisting qualified painters on-site.

No painting experience is required, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential. You will work casual, on-site with a focus on safety and teamwork, gaining hands-on experience in painting and construction

Qualifications

• Current C Class Driver Licence.
• Current White Card.
• Current Working with Children (Blue Card) or the ability to obtain one.
• Physically fit and capable of manual labour.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified painters with daily tasks.
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, masking, and cleaning.
• Protect work areas using drop sheets and masking materials.
• Load, unload, and move tools, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised worksite.
• Follow safe work practices and company procedures.
• Work on residential, commercial, and school facilities as required.

Painting assistants commonly support surface preparation, protect work areas, move materials, and assist qualified painters on‑site.

Essential Requirements

• Physically fit and capable of manual labour.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Desirable

• Previous labouring, construction, landscaping, or painting experience.
• Experience using basic hand and power tools.
• EWP, Working at Heights, or other construction tickets (advantageous but not essential).
