Hitachi Rail is seeking a proactive Associate Telecoms Engineer in Brisbane, Australia. Recent graduates or early-career engineers will join a fast-paced team, contributing to design, testing, and delivery of telecoms systems for major infrastructure projects.

You will develop skills across IP networking, radio communications, fiber/copper transmission, and power systems while learning from senior engineers in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate or early-career engineer with up to 1–2 years in telecommunications, electrical, electronics, or computer engineering.
• Interest in telecommunications systems, IP networking, radio communications, transmission networks, and engineering design or testing activities.
• Willing to learn from senior engineers and develop capability in design documentation, configuration support, testing, commissioning, and project delivery.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand technical information and apply it in a practical engineering environment.
• Clear communication, team collaboration with engineers, project teams, clients, vendors, and site personnel.
• Proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and willingness to support site-based and office-based activities.
• Commitment to working safely, learning industry standards, and contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
• Ability to prepare or support technical documentation, drawings, test records, reports, and engineering deliverables under supervision.
• Strong computer literacy, willingness to learn new tools, and interest in developing technical capability across design, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Eligibility for graduate membership with Engineers Australia, or willingness to work towards professional engineering development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, testing, and delivery of communications systems for major infrastructure projects.
• Support IP networking, radio communications, fibre optic and copper transmission systems, and power systems work.
• Learn from senior engineers and develop capability in design documentation, configuration support, testing, and project delivery.
• Develop analytical and problem-solving skills to apply technical information practically.
• Communicate clearly and work in a team with engineers, project teams, clients, vendors, and site personnel.
• Be proactive, detail-oriented, and support site-based and office-based activities as needed.
