Job summary

Inghams Chickens is seeking a Supervisor for our Bullsbrook breeder facility in Western Australia. The role supports the farm manager with daily site operations, staff supervision, and occasional deployment to other sites for training and coverage.

You will work a rotating roster, ensure humane handling of livestock, oversee egg and chicken processing to quality standards, and actively participate in safety and housekeeping. Prior experience in team-based poultry operations is desirable.

• Proven ability to work effectively within a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, emails)
• Reliable with a record of work commitment
• Calm, methodical problem-solving under pressure
• Physically fit to handle up to 5–15 kg repeatedly

Responsibilities

• Assist the farm manager with day-to-day site operations
• Manage employees and cover manager days off
• Occasionally move to other sites to support training and coverage
• Follow safety rules and participate in safety initiatives
• Perform cleaning and maintain a clean workspace
• Store and maintain materials, equipment and tools
• Identify and escalate animal welfare, food safety and quality issues
• Manage farm in the absence of the manager

Job Description

Your opportunity to join our team:

Our Breeder Facility is in the Bullsbrook, WA area with 8 conventional sheds. We are a fertile egg farm with both hens and roosters mixed in a free-range setting inside the sheds. The site operates 7 days a week whilst in egg production.

The supervisor’s responsibility is to assist the farm manager in the day-to-day operations of the site. Manage employees and cover the manager days off. Whilst the role is for one site, a supervisor will be asked from time to time to move to other sites when the farm is indowntime or if the need arises. These movements are to develop the supervisors training and skills.

We offer a rotating roster that can be discussed in more detail.

What you’ll do:

• Ensure all livestock is treated humanely, and in compliance with Ingham Minimum Standard Procedures
• Processing and inspecting eggs and chicken safely and systematically, according to quality specification
• Completing manual handling duties: lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and reaching
• Being an active, respectful team member that is reliable and honours work commitments
• Get involved with safety, follow the safety rules, speak up and be mindful of risks
• Cleaning duties and maintaining a clean workspace
• Storing and maintaining materials, equipment and tools
• Identifying and escalating Animal Welfare, Food Safety & Quality issues, hazards and risks.
• Manage farm in the absence of the manager

What you’ll bring:

• Capability to perform repetitious tasks efficiently, correctly and systematically in accordance with policies and standards
• Ability to understand, correctly interpret and follow instructions, procedures and information
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
• To be able to successfully communicate written and verbally
• Basic IT Related skills (word, excel, emails)
• A record showing work commitment, reliability, and motivation
• Ability to respond calmly and methodically when faced with obstacles
• Good level of fitness is required as you will manually handle up to 5kg- 15kg
• Mechanically minded
