Job description

Are you an experienced Bookkeeper seeking a flexible role where your skills will make a real impact? We’re looking for a proactive, detail-driven professional to take charge of our financial systems and play a key role in the smooth running of our business.

We are a reputable and fast-growing Commercial Plumbing Company, proudly servicing a broad range of clients across the Central Queensland Region. With our continued growth comes the need for a reliable bookkeeper who can ensure our financial operations remain accurate, compliant, and well-organised. This is an opportunity to join a supportive team and contribute to a business that values precision, transparency, and clear communication.

What We’re Looking For

We’re not just after someone to “do the numbers” - we’re looking for a bookkeeper who understands the importance of accurate financial reporting and how it contributes to smart business decisions.

Attention to Detail: Accuracy matters. You'll be responsible for ensuring that every transaction is entered correctly, reports are precise, and nothing slips through the cracks. Your work will directly impact the financial health of the business.

Business Reporting: Timely and accurate reporting is critical to our operations. From cash flow to budgets, we rely on strong reporting to keep projects running smoothly and ensure compliance with ATO requirements.

Communication Skills: As a key member of our admin team, you’ll liaise with our director, key administrative team, and our accountant. Being able to explain figures clearly, follow up on outstanding invoices, or flag issues confidently is just as important as crunching the numbers.

We’re after someone who not only knows their way around bookkeeping software, but also understands how financial clarity and open communication keep a business strong.

About the Role

Hours: 10–15 hours per week (flexible with days and times)

Location: Central Queensland based company (flexible remote position on offer)

Start Date: Immediately

You’ll work closely with our office manager and director to maintain accurate financial records and assist with compliance and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • General bookkeeping duties including data entry, bank reconciliations, and transaction coding
  • Accounts payable and receivable management
  • Payroll processing and superannuation payments (as needed)
  • Preparation of BAS and GST reporting
  • Managing invoicing and payment follow-ups
  • Liaising with our accountant as needed
  • Maintaining up-to-date records in Xero
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping role, ideally within a trade or construction business
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software platform, Xero
  • Knowledge of Australian payroll and tax regulations, including BAS and superannuation
  • Registered BAS Agent (highly recommended)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to maintaining clean, up-to-date financial records
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, with the ability to clearly liaise with directors, suppliers, clients, and accountants
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or similar qualification
Why Work With Us?
