1300 Apprentice in Mortdale, NSW invites applicants for a 1st Year Certificate III Engineering – Heavy Fabrication (Boilermaker) Apprentice starting January 2027. The role blends workshop and site work, offering hands-on training across fabrication, welding and mechanical tasks.

You will learn from experienced tradespeople, develop practical skills, and work toward a nationally recognised qualification within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Committed to completing their apprenticeship and learning the trade.
• Interested in engineering, machinery, welding and mechanical components.
• Confident with Mathematics and English.
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Willing to undertake regional travel as part of a supervised team.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication and sheet metal work.
• Welding and mechanical components.
• Machine maintenance across a variety of industries.
• Machine installation and relocation.
• Modification and design of machinery.
• Shutdown work.
• Machining and optical alignments.
• Rigging and pipe work.
• General engineering and maintenance tasks.
• Problem-solving and fault-finding.
• Working safely on-site and in the workshop.
