Rio Tinto in Weipa, Queensland, is seeking a Boilermaker to join the Main Workshop team. You will fabricate, weld and repair critical plant equipment, reading engineering drawings and mentoring apprentices in a safety-first, quality-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker/Fabricator.
• Experience in a maintenance or workshop environment.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG and stick welding; pipe welding desirable.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Residential role based in Weipa and 9-day fortnight roster.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and follow Rio Tinto safety standards.
• Fabricate, weld and repair mobile and fixed plant equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect equipment and carry out repairs to quality standards.
• Mentor apprentices and support the apprenticeship program.
• Maintain workshop housekeeping and a productive environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
