Job summary

Rheinmetall Defence Australia – Redbank QLD is seeking skilled Armoured Steel Welders to perform welding and inspection on Boxer vehicles and components in line with Rheinmetall's quality and safety standards.

You will work to the L400 Operations plan, maintain a clean work area per WH&S and 5S, and join a team that values Safety, Partnership, Openness, Respect and Trust (SPORT).

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent Welders trade qualifications.
• Experience welding in a manufacturing environment.
• Competency with MIG and TIG welding systems including working with HS Steels.
• Strong understanding of welding fabrication of major assemblies.
• Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures of complex structural components and entire vehicles.
• Willingness to travel internationally for training (one-off) and Australian citizenship eligibility for clearance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding and inspection tasks on Boxer vehicles and components.
• Complete tasks on-time to the L400 Operations plan.
• Maintain the work area ensuring compliance to WH&S and 5S requirements.
• Work across the day shift or afternoon shift (6:00am-3:00pm or 3:00pm-11:00pm).
• Undergo induction, training and compliance before transitioning to the afternoon shift.

Rheinmetall Defence Australia – Redbank QLD

Our Armoured Steel Welders are responsible for carrying out the welding and inspection tasks on Boxer vehicles and components in accordance with Rheinmetall's quality and safety requirements. You will complete the assigned tasks on-time to the L400 Operations plan. They will maintain the work area ensuring compliance to WH&S and 5S requirements.

The weld team is looking for experienced professionals to work across either the day shift (6:00am - 3:00pm) or afternoon shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm). All new employees will start on the day shift for induction, training and compliance. Once training is complete, they'll transition to the afternoon shift roster if desired.

About your new team

The Welding Department is a critical function within the broader Production team, playing a key role in supporting our operational goals. Welders operate under the guidance of a dedicated team lead, fostering strong collaboration and technical consistency. As an integral unit, they contribute significantly to production efficiency and output quality. With ongoing growth in production demands, the Welding Department continues to expand in alignment with our strategic scaling efforts.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent Welders trade qualifications;
• Experience working autonomously building welded steel assemblies in a manufacturing environment;
• Qualified with the use MIG and TIG welding systems including working with HS Steels;
• Strong understanding of complete welding fabrication of major assemblies;
• Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures of complex structural components and entire vehicles;
• Be able to travel internationally if need be for training (this will be a once off occasion); and
• Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
