Job summary

Downer is offering a full-time Boilermaker Apprenticeship based in Hexham, NSW, commencing mid-January 2027. You will be involved in the complete fabrication process, from parts prep and machinery operation to installations on-site.

This hands-on role provides real project experience and a pathway into the trades. As an apprentice, you will learn to use hand tools, perform tack welding, and contribute to electrical infrastructure builds while travelling to different sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Completed Year 10 or higher with pass marks in Maths and English.
• Willingness to travel to different projects/sites as part of the apprenticeship program.
• Keen to learn and work in a hands-on, workshop-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in full fabrication process from parts prep to installations.

• Assist with building components for switch rooms and other infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Downer's Energy & Utilities team is offering a hands-on Boilermaker Apprenticeship in Hexham NSW, starting in mid-January 2027. You'll be involved in the full fabrication process - from preparing parts and using machinery to assisting with installations. Learn how to use hand tools, perform tack welding, and help build components for switch rooms and other electrical infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to gain solid, practical experience while learning the trade. As part of Downer, you will also have the opportunity to see not only experience the Hexham workshop, but other sites and projects as part of Downer's Energy & Utilities sector.

About You

• Drivers Licence
• Completed Year 10 or higher (Year 12 preferred) with Pass marks in Maths & English
• Willingness to travel to different projects / sites as part of the apprenticeship programme
• Keen to learn and work in a hands-on, workshop-based environment
