Job summary

Glitch Productions, based in Sydney, seeks an experienced pipeline technical director to build a Blender production pipeline from scratch for a fixed-term project. You will handle setup, testing, and documentation, collaborating closely with the project lead to ensure a clean handover when the contract ends.

You bring deep Blender expertise, strong Python development, and a track record of migrating pipelines. The role offers hybrid work and a hands-on path to deliver production-ready tooling.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building production pipelines from the ground up.
• Hands-on migration of studio pipelines between tools/DCCs with risk reduction.
• Senior-level technical direction in VFX/animation/game pipelines.
• Deep Blender experience with tooling and day-to-day production use.
• Strong Python development and production tooling experience.
• Experience with USD and Alembic interchange for round-tripping data.
• Familiarity with Cycles/EEVEE render setup and configuration.
• Ability to translate artist needs into durable tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build the Blender production pipeline and its interfacing tools with the project lead.
• Design and run test scenes, materials, and characters to validate workflows.
• Document the pipeline, tooling, and workflows for onboarding and handover.
• Collaborate with 3D artists and production staff to translate needs into working tools.
• Support department leads with onboarding and process documentation.
• Triage issues and classify fixes across Blender, pipeline, or workflow.
