Rio Tinto in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is seeking a Blast Operator to join our Drill and Blast teams across multiple mine sites. You will contribute to productivity and help achieve operational targets in a safety-driven, team-focused environment with family-friendly rosters (8:6 or 8:6/7:7).

Reporting to the Blast Supervisor, you will help maintain safety culture, participate in explosive handling, comply with blast plans, stock magazines, inspect equipment, and support continuous

• MPU and small loader experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Foster and communicate a positive safety culture in all activities.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities using Rio Tinto practices.
• Collaborate with other functions and stakeholders in the performance of duties.
• Participate in activities involving explosives and maintain standard of explosive compounds.
• Comply with the blast plan at all times.
• Stock take magazines.
• Inspect equipment for correct operation and safety compliance.
• Perform sampling duties as required.

About the role

We are looking for a Blast Operator to join our Drill and Blast teams across various Pilbara mine sites, helping to drive productivity and achieve operational targets.

Reporting to the Supervisor of the blast team and working in a challenging and exciting environment as a blast operator, you will:

• Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to
  promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging
  prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying,
  evaluating and implementing improvement opportunities utilising
  a range of Rio Tinto best practices

• Collaborate closely with other functions and stakeholders in the
  performance of duties

• Participate in all activities involving the use of explosive products,
  including maintaining the standards of explosive compounds

• Comply with the blast plan at all times

• Stock take magazines

• Inspect equipment to ensure the correct working order and safety
  requirements

• Perform sampling duties as required

About you:

• Have a commitment to safety—prioritizing the wellbeing of yourself and your team.

• Hold a valid Australian C Class manual driver’s license or higher.

• Possess a strong team mindset, with the ability to work safely and flexibly to meet business requirements.

• Hold a Dangerous Good License.
